Bacterial Vaginosis and Yeast Infection - what is the difference?

Posted by yeastinfectionpictures Wednesday, November 25, 2009

The best way to describe the difference between bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection is of the type of discharge as the cause. In a yeast infection (Yi), vaginal discharge is usually odorless, thick and white. Discharge BV is gray or white, thin and almost translucent. In most cases, have an unpleasant fishy smell.

It is normal in the vagina contains an abundance of protective bacteria called lactobacilli. When these "good" bacteria have been removed, we find a overgrowth of potentially "bad" bacteria. They are harmful and can lead to B.V.

Yeast infections occur when the yeast in the vagina called Candida albicans, is unbalanced. This imbalance can be caused by poor diet and antibiotics. When this yeast or fungus becomes imbalanced, candida will proliferate normally fast.

Research has shown that many women misinterpret their symptoms. What most women assume is an infection with yeast, is actually bacterial vaginosis (BV abbreviated). In a recent survey, had 44 percent of women diagnosed with BV early medical treatment to YI.

Since these two types of vaginal infections have different causes, they also have different treatments. Be aware of any vaginal symptoms and check with your doctor if you have any questions between the two conditions. The differences once again:

BV has an unpleasant fishy odor, YI has no odor at all.

BV has a white or gray thin milky discharge; YI have a discharge that is white and think.

Up to half of women with BV are affected with itching or irritation, while nearly every woman in YI have itching or irritation.   You can see this in yeast infection pictures.

The cause of BV is bacteria while the cause of YI is yeast.
If you suffer from BV and yeast infection does not continue to read, I have good news. The good news is that it is perfectly possible to live everyday of your life living without nasty emissions or feeling uncomfortable that you smell bad. It need not be this long.

And of course you get all of this breakthrough information through someone who was there. The woman behind this cure has cracked the code to get rid of BV. Her cure not only works quickly, but it has given many women a permanent bacterial vaginosis relief.
